Welcome to Upward Spiral. I’m Max Walton, and I’m the founder of this blog. I also wear a number of other hats – editor, chief writer, chief cook-and-bottle-washer.
So who am I, and why should you pay any attention to me? I’m not a doctor, psychiatrist or any other kind of mental health professional. I’m just an ordinary guy, a draughtsman by trade. But I’m also a survivor of depression.
I know just how it feels to struggle with depression. No mental health professional can possibly understand it, unless they’ve experienced such living hell themselves. I’m lucky enough to have made a full recovery. I’ve been free from depression for just over eighteen months now. Touch wood, I won’t ever have a relapse.
Everyone’s experience with depression is different. Different causes. Different symptoms. Different roads to recovery. There is no a one-size-fits-all cure. But I can share what has helped me.
And that’s why I started this blog. I wanted to share what I’ve learned about depression. I wanted others to benefit from my own struggle.
But everyone has their own unique experience to draw from. I believe it’s important to get insights from more than one person. That’s why I also have contributing writers, who share their own insights and wisdom. As I said before, everyone has a different road to recovery.
I sincerely hope that this blog will help you on your own road to recovery.
